Beaches Resorts are located in Ocho Rios, Negril and Turks & Caicos Vacations at our all-inclusive family resorts in the Caribbean are all about you, and taking the time to relax, unwind and spend quality time together with loved ones.

During the cold months of winter, we all dream of taking a trip to escape the cold temps up in Northeastern PA. Even if you aren’t living in a region with cold weather, the winter months are still a great time to escape. If you have been thinking about taking a family vacation but don’t know where to start here are some of our highlights from a recent family vacation to Beaches Ocho Rios.

Now, we are not golfers, but if you have family members who do enjoy golfing this is the perfect place to vacation.  At Beaches Ocho Rios, unlimited rounds of golf, green fees and round-trip transfers are included for everyone at their very own Sandals Golf & Country Club. If golf isn’t your thing, no worries, there is plenty to do at Beaches Ocho Rios Resort.

Before planning this ultimate family vacation, you must think about the finances involved. It is a big expensive upfront, but if you compare the all inclusive to what you may spend a week at the shore after meals, it actually may save you money.  Even if it takes a few years to save up for a trip like this, it will be totally worth it. To help get you started, here are 5 Tips to Save Money This Year.

Ultimate Family Vacation at Beaches Ocho Rios

Upon arrival at Montego International Airport, look for the Sandals or Beaches desk or lounge, conveniently located right outside the Immigration and Customs area. Your complimentary transfer to and from the resort will be arranged by Beaches. It’s a 90 minute ride to the resort, so sit back, relax and enjoy the magnificent scenery. The van stopped half way to the resort for a quick snack and restroom break.

Arriving at our destination, the kids were treated with a strawberry dacquari as we checked into the resort. We knew right then that it was going to be a magical week. Right then, I just knew that it was going to be an awesome vacation.

The Food at Beaches Ocho Rios

If you are worried about the food choices at Beaches Ocho Rios, rest assure that you will not have to worry with seven delicious dining choices everyone will enjoy. Each world-class restaurant will delight even the most finicky palate, with a world of choices that offer a culinary journey.

When they say all inclusive, they mean all inclusive. We did not have to spend a penny on food while we were there and the staff cannot accept tips. The kids loved the fact that they can eat whenever they wanted and can try new things. The restaurants included kid friendly options, so there was never a time that I heard the kids say they were hungry. After dinner, we would go see the shows then get dessert at the buffet or ice cream, which was also available all the time.

One of the nights there was a BBQ on the beach that was followed by a dance party on the beach. The kids loved kicking in the sand as the sunset and playing with their new friends.

Lunchtime was our favorite to be able to bring the food right down to the beach. The kids would switch from the pizza at Bar B.Q to the sweet life of designing their own crepes at the Creperie. Other days we would head up to the buffet and sit by the pool to eat a sandwhich. No matter what, we didn’t go hungry.

The Beach at Beaches Ocho Rios

One of my favorite aspects of the beach at Beaches Ocho Rios is that it’s not big and that’s great when you have kids. If you look at the resort picture on the top of the page, you can almost see across the entire beach.  That was one of the main reasons that we selected this resort. We felt comfortable enough to allow the kids to play and run around the beach without worrying they would get lost. The ocean is also roped off so they can only swim in certain area, which is great with all the water attractions going on around the swim area.

Kids Camp at  Beaches Ocho Rios

When we were looking into our family vacation at Beaches Resorts, we knew that our kids would love the kids camp. Even though we traveled with grandma and grandpa, it was important for the kids to hang out with other kids and have some fun. Beaches give kids extra attention with tailor-made fun just for them. including supervised kids programs for five different age levels, and it’s part of the all-inclusive package.

Beaches Kids Camp programs, for infants through age 12, are run by professionally trained child-care experts. But what really sets this family-friendly vacation apart is the amazing kids camp staff. We felt very comfortable with leaving the kids in good, trusting hands.

Traveling with a baby? Your little ones will go to bed exhausted, dreaming of another picture-perfect day at Beaches with their special area for babies and toddlers. Beaches even offers a nanny service for additional fee. Kids love our Kids Camps—full of fun and including everything from beach parties to marine science. From amazing waterparks to the ultra-cool Scratch DJ Academy®, tweens will have a blast at Beaches.

Water activities at Beaches Resorts

One of the deciding factors for us that separated Beaches Resorts from other all-inclusive resorts was the water activities that were included in the package. We made sure to purchase a good quality underwater camera, so we didn’t have to worry about using our phones. Reservations are required for some of the water activities like snorkeling, glass bottom boat, and scuba-diving. We went on glass bottom boat first thing after breakfast and did snorkeling middle of the day to cool off. The banana boat, kayaks, paddle boarding and windsurfing activities do not need reservations.

  • Ocean Kayaks
  • Snorkeling
  • Banana Boat
  • Kid Canopy Pool
  • 1 Swim-up Bar
  • Windsurfing
  • Paddle Boarding
  • Scuba-Diving
  • 3 Whirlpools
  • 2 Huge Waterslides

Something that is recommended is to purchase and bring with you to Beaches Resorts is snorkeling gear. Even if you don’t use it for snorkeling in the middle of the ocean, the kids will get a lot of use out of it while closer to the beach. The ocean is still so clear that they can see fish at their feet. We also brought along some fish food to attract more fish.  The kids were able to use the glasses to play games in the pool, so it was worth the money ahead of time.

Another included perk in the all-inclusive vacation package at Beaches is the the most thrilling Waterparks in the Caribbean. Only Beaches has the best waterparks in the Caribbean, where kids of all ages will have a blast. Pirates Island is a fantasy world filled with gigantic waterslides, kid-friendly pools and swim-up soda bars.

Character Appearances at Beaches Resorts

The Shows at Beaches Resorts

Jaxon was part of the magic show, which was totally neat. That’s one thing that I really enjoyed about the shows at Beaches Resorts was that they included the audience and got the kids up and moving.

The Room And Staff at Beaches Ocho Rios Resort

For our family of five, we selected the Caribbean Luxury Family Sized Room, which was perfect. It included  With their location on the upper floors of the resort’s main building, providing easy access to some of the resort’s best amenities, these large accommodations feature traditional mahogany and marble furnishings, the choice of a king-sized bed or two double beds, flat screen television, and en-suite bathroom. The living area boasts a large, relaxing sitting space complete with a sofa bed.

The outside area was perfect for hanging out as a family and the perfect place to wait for everyone to freshen up after a fun day on the beach. We would get the kids showered and give them a little snack while we got ready for dinner.

The entire staff is incredibly happy, friendly, nice, respectful and Beyond accommodating. One day on the beach the kids decided they wanted to try a real coconut and asked one of the staff members. He told them to come back in a few hours and guess what, he went on his lunch hour to cut down a coconut for them.

Is the Photo Shoot Worth Doing at Beaches Ocho Rios Resort?

Why not, it’s free. The photo shoot itself is free but each photo is put on a disk for you and the cost is just $20 per photo. That’s not a bad price when you think about not having to pay a sitting fee. The hardest choice is deciding which pictures to buy. We ended up using the first photo for our holiday card this year and the rest of them we gave as gifts throughout the year to family members. There are always photo deals, so just get them printed when you come across a discounted or free enlargement.

Local Tours at Beaches Ocho Rios

There are a ton of great local tours at Beaches Ocho Rios. We wanted to do something that the kids would never forget, so we decided to try the Dolphin Swim at Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios. There were discounts on daily deal sites, but we wanted to make sure to get the correct transfers from Beaches Resort, so we booked this ahead of time directly through Beaches. Yes, the price is a little expensive but it’s worth the experience. We were able to spend a few hours at Dolphin Cove to swim with sting rays, sharks, and dolphins of course. The kids also got to interact with unique  exotic birds, snakes and iguanas on the nature trail.

You do not need to bring money unless you feel that you need a snack. We were able to pay for the pictures upon delivery to the resort. The pictures were a little expensive but try to make a deal with them. Although they are expensive in cost, the memories are priceless. We also brought our own water shoes that we ordered ahead of time. This is a must have for the dolphin experience because the rocks are slippery that you are standing on while the others have the experience.

Would we go back to Beaches Resorts?

This is a crazy question to ask, but I get asked it a lot. Of course we would go back and every year if we could. Right now we are saving our money to go back to Ocho Rios, but Negril and Turks & Caicos are defiantly on our buck list.

It was hard to say goodbye, but we will always cherish the family time and memories made at Beaches Ocho Rios. Until next time…
